Vocal Hands – AI-Powered Sign Language Translator
An AI-powered app that translates sign language into voice and text in real time, breaking communication barriers for the deaf community.
Year :
2025
Industry :
Ai Engineering
Client :
AAUP University
Project Duration :
4 weeks

Problem :
Millions of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals face daily communication barriers because most people don’t understand sign language. Existing translation tools are either inaccurate, slow, or inaccessible, limiting real-world interaction and inclusivity.

Solution :
Vocal Hands uses AI and computer vision to translate sign language gestures into voice and text in real time. The app bridges communication between signers and non-signers, offering a fast, accurate, and user-friendly way to make conversations natural and inclusive.

Challenge :
Capturing hand movements precisely across different lighting conditions, camera angles, and sign variations required extensive data training and fine-tuning of the AI model. Achieving both speed and accuracy without sacrificing accessibility across devices was also a key challenge.
Summary :
Vocal Hands is an innovative project by Ali Izzeldin that leverages AI, computer vision, and real-time processing to make communication accessible to everyone. It demonstrates technical skill, creativity, and a commitment to social impact by using technology to bridge the gap between sound and sign.
